Moving over 1000 miles from home, I knew I needed a breath of fresh air. A chance to start over in a new city. A chance to actually be myself. Little did I know that would mean meeting the most amazing human being in this world.
Matthew Yong Joon Kim.
I mean.. just look at him. My burnt chicken nugget, my favorite shopping buddy, and my absolute best friend. I also never thought I’d EVER write a blog post about a guy, but this goes to show how much I adore him. Matt is the guy I always dreamed about but never thought I’d be lucky enough to meet. He is everything a girl could ask for and more.
We met on a blind date which I imagined would be a little cringy and awkward, but it was actually the complete opposite. We may have only met a few months ago, but I wouldn’t change these past months for the world.
This was taken the day we met (at his 100th night West Point formal), and this was the moment I knew I wanted to get to know him after the initial weekend. He suggested pictures outside because of the better lighting. I mean.. seriously? A guy that cares about pictures? I must of been dreaming. But wait.. It gets better.
So, to get up to West Point, I had to take the MetroNorth from Grand Central Station. This was my very first time traveling by train out of the city and nervous was an understatement. So many things could of happened. I get kidnapped, take the wrong train, miss the train, die, etc.. Anyways, I made it alive, as you can see, but I was dreading taking the train back home the following night. Obviously I was just going to suck it up and do it, but Matt offered to drive me back. all. the. way. home. (And let me add I never said anything about dreading taking the train. Let me also add we literally just met. He didn’t even know me). Matt is perfection in every way imaginable. And the rest, my friends, is history. 😉
I actually typed this on April 25, and then re-typed on May 15, but I wanted to wait to post on your birthday. So happy birthday babe. I hope this beats any card or present I could get you. I love you so much and cannot wait to see you. Thank you for being the greatest boyfriend and best friend a girl could ask for. You make me laugh, smile, and cry way too many happy tears. Hopefully you’re on your way to me, but if not I’ll see you when I see you <3.
