Living in your 20’s means you’re either really lucky or struggling somewhat financially. I fall into the struggling category, of course. Living in and around the one of the most expensive cities in the country does not make it easy to save money, but *sighs* it is doable.
Lately, however, I have not been able to go shopping for new summer outfits because I have to do the boring, responsible thing and budget my money… I do have a few tips I like to call broke, but make it fashion for anyone with the same struggles.
- Refer to spring cleaning post and clear out your closet of anything you haven’t worn in months. I don’t care how cute it is, there’s a reason you haven’t worn it (if you’re reading this, Jordan, you know what to do).
- Once you have your closet cleaned out, go through all your clothes and actually pair outfits together with the pieces you truly love. I did this and it was quite therapeutic.
- Don’t be afraid to wear the same outfit!! Spice something up with a belt or hair tie. Better yet, create a whole new outfit out of something already worn. Make any long skirt into a dress, a silk scarf into a tube top (not pictured, but coming soon), and my personal favorite, throw a tee on top of a dress, and boom. It becomes a skirt (see below).

I don’t know how helpful these tips might be, but they have helped me actually plan outfits for the week, figure out what I do and don’t like and most importantly, save dat money. *queue lil dicky*
Wow, I really crack myself up.
